We are pleased to invite you to SAW’s upcoming Annual General Meeting.
As a valued supporter of SAW, you are encouraged to attend the AGM to exercise your right to vote, become a member and share your input on the centre’s programming and operations.
As we look ahead to another exciting year, the AGM offers an opportunity to reflect on SAW’s many accomplishments in 2025.
The past year was an exceptionally dynamic one for SAW, marked by ambitious exhibitions, national collaborations, youth initiatives and international partnerships. Among the highlights was the major career survey of Ottawa multidisciplinary artist Bucko, as well as SAW’s co-hosting of Against the Current / Wàbi mikanàwàn, the sixth national gathering presented in partnership with the Artist-Run Centres and Collectives Conference (ARCA). Bringing together more than 250 artists, cultural workers and delegates from across Canada and beyond, the gathering transformed Ottawa-Gatineau into a hub for critical dialogue, artistic exchange and collective action.
The year also saw SAW expand its international reach through the touring exhibition Driving in Palestine by Rehab Nazzal at The People's Forum in New York City, where the exhibition welcomed more than 12,000 visitors. Closer to home, we continued to invest in the next generation of artists through NEXT, our art-training and mentorship program for emerging Indigenous makers.
At the same time, SAW strengthened connections across artistic, scientific and academic communities through the largest edition yet of the SCI_ART Art, Science and Technology Symposium. Presented in partnership with the European Union Delegation to Canada and an extensive network of cultural and academic partners, the symposium brought together artists, scientists and researchers from around the world to explore the intersections of creative practice, technological innovation and urgent social and environmental questions.
Taken together, these initiatives reflect SAW’s ongoing commitment to fostering artistic risk-taking, supporting emerging and established artists, and creating opportunities for meaningful local, national and international exchange.
As we celebrate these achievements, we are equally excited about the initiatives and opportunities that lie ahead. Join us as we reflect on the past year and share plans for the future.
We warmly thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you at the AGM!
