Join us for an artist talk with Tristan Pernet as he discusses recent projects and the work he is currently undertaking as part of the research and production residency program ART + PROTEST, offered in partnership with the French Embassy in Canada. During his one-month residency at SAW, he will develop a site-specific project to be installed in a public space in Ottawa in the spring of 2024.
Tristan Pernet is a graduate of the École Estienne in Paris and the Haute école des arts du Rhin in Mulhouse and Strasbourg. He is a founding member of the Paris Print Club, a collective workshop space and gallery dedicated to all printmaking techniques. In addition to pursuing his artistic practice, he works as a master printer for many other artists and designers as part of the Paris Print Club. He also co-founded Frenchfourch, a creative studio, publishing house and research space for screenprinting in Paris.
This talk will be in French and English, followed by a Q&A session. A wine and cheese reception will follow the presentation.
ART + PROTEST
Offered by SAW in partnership with the French Embassy in Canada to visual and media artists from France, the ART + PROTEST program supports the production of artistic work that addresses contemporary social issues or social and political protest movements. During their residency, artists live at the Rochon Residence, a heritage house located in downtown Ottawa, and have access to an artist studio at SAW. SAW’s artist residency programs are presented as part of the Culture Lives Here initiative of the National Capital Commission.
